Question 1

What is InterSession?

Accepted Answer

InterSession is a session documentation toolkit designed specifically for psychologists. It helps you generate clinical notes, client between-session guides, and growth tasks clients can add to their calendar. Built with Australian privacy law in mind.

Question 2

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Sign up for a free account at https://app.intersession.io/register. You start with a 14-day Pro trial, so you can record sessions and generate notes straight away. No credit card required.

Question 3

Do I need to download anything?

Accepted Answer

No. InterSession runs in your web browser, and there is no clinician desktop app. Your clients can use the InterSession mobile app for iOS and Android to view their sessions, tasks, and resources between appointments.

Question 4

What devices can I use InterSession on?

Accepted Answer

InterSession runs in a current web browser on Windows, Mac, tablets, and smartphones. In-person recording needs a browser with microphone access. Live telehealth capture needs Chrome or Edge, because it records the audio from a shared browser tab.

Question 5

What therapeutic modalities do you support?

Accepted Answer

We support 15+ modality-specific templates including CBT, DBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, Psychodynamic, IPT, and more. Each template is designed to capture the specific elements of that therapeutic approach.

Question 6

How accurate is the transcription?

Accepted Answer

Our transcription is designed for clinical terminology and therapeutic context. It captures clinical nuances better than general-purpose transcription, but all outputs should still be reviewed before finalising documentation.

Question 7

Can I edit the generated notes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Generated notes are always editable. We provide them as a starting point to save you time, but you have full control to add clinical insights, adjust language, and customize before saving or exporting.

Question 8

Can I use InterSession for telehealth sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For live transcription, run your Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet call in Chrome or Edge, the same browser as InterSession, not in the meeting desktop app. When recording starts, select Chrome Tab, choose your meeting tab, and confirm "Share tab audio" is on. You can also upload a recording afterward as an MP3, WAV, M4A, WebM, or OGG file up to 100MB.

Question 9

How long can a recording be?

Accepted Answer

Each live recording can run for up to 90 minutes. InterSession stops the recording automatically when it reaches the limit. You can pause and resume at any point during a recording.

Question 10

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. InterSession is built with Australian privacy law in mind, including the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We use AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS encryption in transit. Data is stored on servers in Australia.

Question 11

Where is my data stored?

Accepted Answer

Your data is stored on secure servers in Sydney, Australia. Some processing services (AI transcription, email delivery) may briefly process data overseas, which is disclosed in our Privacy Policy.

Question 12

Is my data used to train AI models?

Accepted Answer

No. Your client data is never used for AI training or sold to third parties. Your data belongs to you. Period.

Question 13

What happens to recordings after notes are generated?

Accepted Answer

Audio recordings are processed for transcription and then not stored. We do not retain audio recordings. Only the text transcript and generated notes.

Question 14

Do clients need to consent to recording?

Accepted Answer

Yes, client consent is required. InterSession includes built-in consent workflows with digital signatures to help you document consent. Always follow your professional ethics guidelines and relevant privacy laws.

Question 15

Is there a free plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Free plan costs $0 and includes 5 session recordings per month after your 14-day Pro trial. No credit card required. The paid Starter plan includes 30 session recordings per month.

Question 16

Can I try Pro features before paying?

Accepted Answer

Yes. New accounts get a 14-day Pro trial with unlimited session recordings. After the trial, you move to the Free plan with 5 recordings per month, or you can upgrade to Starter, Pro, or Practice.

Question 17

How does billing work?

Accepted Answer

You can pay monthly or annually. Annual billing saves about 15% compared with monthly. You manage your subscription through the Stripe billing portal, which you open from InterSession.

Question 18

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept card payments, processed securely through Stripe.

Question 19

Do you offer plans for group practices?

Accepted Answer

Question 20

How do I get help if I have issues?

Accepted Answer

Every plan includes email support. Pro and Practice include priority support, and Practice adds phone support. Enterprise includes a dedicated support team.

Question 21

Can I export my data?

Accepted Answer

Question 22

Do you integrate with EHR systems?
